About website QR codes
A URL QR code is the workhorse of the format: point a camera at it and the phone opens your page. It works for a menu, a product listing, a booking form, an app store link or a review page — anywhere you want to move someone from the physical world to a specific URL without making them type it.
The code produced here is static. Your link is encoded directly into the pattern, so no redirect service sits in the middle counting scans or waiting for a subscription to lapse. The practical consequence is that the code keeps working for as long as the page does.
If you think the destination might change, encode a short URL on a domain you control and redirect it yourself. You keep the editability of a dynamic code without depending on anyone else's server.
How to create one
- Paste your link. Include https://. Strip tracking parameters — they make the code denser for no benefit.
- Style the code. Open the Design tab to set colours, module shapes and an optional centre logo.
- Download. SVG for print, PNG or WebP for screens. Test the result with a real phone before you print a run.

- Should I shorten the URL first?
- It helps. A shorter URL means fewer modules, which means a chunkier, more forgiving code at the same printed size. Drop UTM parameters if you can, or use a short path on your own domain.
- Can I change where the code points later?
- Not in the code itself — that is what static means. The workaround is to encode a URL you control and change the redirect behind it. That gives you editability without a third-party dependency.
- Does it work with any link?
- Any http:// or https:// address. Other schemes are rejected on purpose: a QR code that launches a javascript: or data: URL is a phishing tool, not a feature.
- Is it free, and does the code expire?
- Free, with no account and no watermark. The code is static, so the content lives in the pattern itself — there is no redirect to switch off and no scan limit to hit.
- Is my data sent to your servers?
- No. The code is built by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted, which you can verify in your browser's network tab.
